About Mensho Tokyo SF

Located at 672 Geary St, San Francisco, CA 94102, Mensho Tokyo SF operates as a ramen serving San Francisco in California. Besides its main category, the business also describes itself as japanese restaurant, restaurant, so it may cover more than the name suggests.

Portion sizes and pricing swing widely across this group, from a $10 lunch bowl to a multi-course tasting menu at an upscale sushi counter, so checking recent reviews and photos is more useful than the price range alone. In San Francisco, dinner reservations for popular izakaya, hot pot and Korean BBQ spots fill up on Friday and Saturday nights, so booking ahead or arriving at opening is worth it. Many restaurants across California run daily lunch specials on weekdays that are not listed on the dinner menu, so it is worth asking. Halal, vegetarian and gluten-free options vary a lot by kitchen; call ahead if you have a dietary restriction rather than assuming the menu will note it.

San Francisco is in California, on the West Coast, where the climate ranges from foggy coast to hot inland valleys, wildfire season can affect air quality in late summer, and traffic is the main thing to plan around. Traffic in San Francisco peaks on weekday mornings and afternoons, so allow extra time then. Addresses read from the street number up to the city, state abbreviation and five-digit ZIP code; the map link on this page shows the exact spot.

Let me get the only minor negative out of the way: they expect everyone to purchase a bowl of ramen. I understand that, but we had two kids with us who can share. We ordered two sides (wagyu sashimi and uni/wagyu) which were more than the ramen bowls themselves so they were okay with that. With that out of the way, the ramen was the best I ever tasted (in the States). It does rival ramen I've had in Japan. That is saying a whole lot for those who haven't been to Japan, the ramen there is top notch obviously. The ramen noodle itself was perfect texture of chewy, smooth and aldente at the same time. It was perfect. The broth was creamy but you didn't feel it was over bearing with cream, it didn't feel heavy. Meat was buttery soft and delicious. The wagyu sashimi was almost too smooth, there I couldn't taste any flavor. I'd honestly rather eat thick wagyu seared slightly in each side. Overall, I'm glad we waited on the long line. That line is consistently long for a reason. A must try in SF!

The signature ramen was delicious. The matcha duck ramen was creative, but the taste was only so so. The wagyu beef sushi was good. The fried enoki was crispy and nice. The wait for not too long for a Monday evening around 6-7pm. Overall, we had a good dinner.

Tried Mensho Tokyo in San Francisco and it absolutely lived up to the hype. We ordered the Spicy Lamb and the Extra Spicy GKO both were incredible. The broth is rich, thick, and almost curry-like, packed with deep, bold flavors that really stand out from typical ramen. They’ve got a great variety of veg and non-veg options, which makes it an easy pick for mixed groups too. Definitely one of the best ramen spots I’ve been to, highly recommend checking it out!

Hands down the best ramen we’ve ever had. The signature bowl is rich and deeply flavorful, while the classic is a great option if you prefer something lighter. The GKO and lamb cumin ramen bring in Chinese-inspired flavors, which is a unique and creative twist. Everything we tried was deliciousβ€”highly recommend!

Hands down the best ramen I’ve ever had. The broth is incredibly rich, creamy, and packed with flavorβ€”every spoonful feels carefully crafted. The noodles have the perfect texture, and the toppings are high quality and unique. This isn’t your typical ramen spotβ€”it feels elevated, almost like a Michelin-level experience in terms of technique and flavor. You can really tell there’s a lot of thought behind every element of the bowl. If you’re into bold, intense flavors and don’t mind something a bit heavier, this place is a must-try. I’d absolutely come back
